Prisma Health announces Sharyl Smith, APR, as its executive vice president and chief strategy officer

Prisma Health announced the appointment of Sharyl Smith, APR, as executive vice president and chief strategy officer. With more than 20 years of experience in strategic planning, marketing and communications leadership, Smith brings a wealth of expertise to her new role, where she will guide Prisma’s strategic initiatives and growth. She will lead Planning, Marketing & Communications, Philanthropy and Veterans’ Affairs.

Most recently, Smith served as vice president of regional marketing and communications at Trinity Health, a $21 billion organization that operates 101 hospitals and employs 123,000 people in 26 states. In this role, she was instrumental in executing branding initiatives and integrated marketing plans that significantly elevated the organization’s consumer awareness and strengthened community relationships. She also spearheaded digital marketing campaigns, led cross-functional growth strategies and provided critical insights to support executive leaders and regional CEOs.

Her impressive career includes senior leadership roles at McLaren Health Care and the Detroit Medical Center, where she drove growth, innovation and patient experience improvements across multiple healthcare markets.

Smith is a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, where she earned a master’s degree in integrated marketing communication. She holds an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) and certification in Healthcare Strategic Planning through the American Hospital Association Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development.

Smith holds several professional affiliations including the Society for Healthcare Strategy and Market Development; the American College of Healthcare Executives; the National Association of Health Services Executives; and the American Marketing Association. She has served in board leadership positions for the Public Relations Society of America’s Detroit Chapter and the American Heart Association of Southeast Michigan and was appointed to the Early Childhood Investment Corporation by the State of Michigan’s Governor’s Office. Smith also is a member of two international service organizations, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and The Links, Incorporated.
