Proterra executive to lead Clemson First Friday seminar

CLEMSON,SC – December 3, 2010 – Westy Bowen, vice president of IntegratedSupply Chain for Proterra, LLC, will speak about “A Journey ofContinuous Improvement” at 5 p.m., Friday, Dec. 3, at Clemson at theFalls in Greenville.

Bowen has more than 18 years’ experience in lean manufacturing, supplychain management and continuous improvement processes. Prior to joiningProterra, he worked with E-Z-GO, a leading manufacturer of golf carsand utility vehicles, where he led the company to be the firstrecipient of The Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence and winner ofIndustry Week’s Best Plant competition. He also played an integral rolein leading E-Z-GO’s launch of its next generation golf car – the RXV –including implementing a state-of-the-art assembly process. Bowen hasheld additional leadership roles in the areas of quality, Six Sigma,lean manufacturing and supply chain management with Shaw Industries,GE, NCR and Textron. He earned an MBA in operations management and adegree in financial management from Clemson University.
