Providence Hospitals Announces Nurse Support Associate of the Year

COLUMBIA, SC – October 3, 2007 – Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals recently named Staff Pharmacist Melanie Derden Nurse Support Associate of the Year.  Derden processes physician orders, provides drug information and enhances patient care by providing specialized pharmaceutical services to improve drug usage and patient outcomes.

A Providence employee for two years, Derden received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia and graduated from the School of Pharmacy at Mercer University.

Her colleagues say Derden deserves the title Nurse Support Associate of the Year because, “her gentle voice and kind smile help in stressful situations.  Melanie is compassionate, concerned, and works to provide excellent care to the patients at Providence Hospitals.”

Derden is married to Marty Farrant.  They reside in downtown Columbia.
