Providence Hospitals Names New Assistant Vice President of Quality Management

COLUMBIA, SC – January 21, 2008 – Lori August has been promoted from her position as director of performance improvement to assistant vice president of quality management for Sisters of Charity Providence Hospitals.  A Providence employee since 2004, August will be responsible for management of risk, quality, and performance improvement initiatives, as well as data management, quality outcomes, infection control, and Joint Commission accreditation preparation. 

August previously served as the director of quality improvement/health information management at HealthSouth, one of the nation’s largest health care services providers.

August, originally from Baltimore, Md., has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland in College Park, and an associate’s degree in health information management from Midlands Technical College in Columbia.  She is a certified professional in health care risk management and a registered health information technologist. 

August resides in Lexington with her husband Lawrence and is a member of the American Society of HealthCare Risk Managers and the National Association of Healthcare Quality.
