Providence Hospitals Nurse Receives Prestigious Statewide Award

COLUMBIA, SC – May 7, 2009 – Providence Hospitals nurse Laura Herbert has received statewide recognition as Palmetto Gold winner.  The South Carolina Nurses Foundation presents Palmetto Gold awards to nurses selected for epitomizing excellence in their profession. 

Laura Herbert, RN, BS, has been a Providence employee for over 20 years.  Currently the clinical manager for the Progressive Coronary Care Unit, Herbert has also served in leadership roles as director of Cardiovascular Health Services and program coordinator for Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.  In addition, Herbert has served as a staff nurse in the Intermediate Medical Care Unit and in the Progressive Coronary Care Unit. 

Herbert received her degree in practical nursing and associate degree in nursing from Midlands Technical College.  She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Medical University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in health science.

A resident of Northeast Columbia, Herbert and her husband Talvin have three sons, Grayson, Sheldon and Landon.  Herbert is an active member of Sandhills Community Church, serving as a team leader for their children’s program.
