Public Charter Schools role in strengthening South Carolina’s future celebrating 20 years of the South Carolina Charter Schools Act

State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman, former SC Superintendent Barbara Nielsen, SC House Chairwoman of the Education and Public Works Committee Merita “Rita” Allison, Beverly Carbaugh of Learning Sciences Marzano Center and National Alliance for Public Charter Schools Senior Manager, Emily Schultz to Address Participants at the 2016 Leadership Summit in Columbia, SC.

What: Public charter school leaders, board members, and elected officials, will come together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SC’s Charter Schools Act at the 2016 Leadership Summit in Columbia, SC on April 12th, hosted by the Public Charter School Alliance of South Carolina. Discussions will bring together policy and practice as participants explore needed changes in laws and the implementation of existing laws with a keen eye on advancing charter autonomy and student achievement.

The Alliance’s annual Leadership Summit provides the venue for charter school peers and stakeholders to come together and exchange ideas on how to strengthen our collective missions and create real and lasting impact. South Carolina’s public charter schools continue to transform the educational landscape of South Carolina and the lives of students 20 years after the SC Charter Schools Act was signed into law.
