Public invited to learn more about Williams Street Extension project in Columbia

June 9, 2025

Residents and stakeholders are invited to attend a public informational meeting on Monday, June 16, 2025, to learn more about the City of Columbia’s transformative Williams Street Extension project. The drop-in style meeting will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stormwater Studios.

The Williams Street Extension will establish a critical new street connection from Blossom Street to Senate Street, enhancing the city’s street grid and creating new multimodal links west of Huger Street. Phase one includes the construction of approximately 4,700 feet of new and improved roadway, sidewalks, and essential infrastructure.

Originally announced in August 2024, the project aims to expand public access to the river, stimulate economic development, improve safety and connectivity across districts, and enrich recreational opportunities along Columbia’s riverfront. This meeting offers the public a chance to explore design details, ask questions, and offer feedback on a project designed to shape the future of the city’s core.
