PurePower to expand footprint in Richland County

April 27, 2022

PurePower Technologies, which supplies diesel fuel injection systems for Ford Motor Co. and other diesel engine manufacturers, is expanding its operations in Richland County.

The company plans to invest $5.4 million over the first two years of a new fee-in-lieu-of-tax agreement with the County, with the investment going toward machinery and other equipment to build production capacity and improve efficiency at PurePower’s facility in Blythewood. More investment is anticipated after the first two years of the agreement.

“PurePower’s investment in its Richland County operations is a testament to the company’s success in our community,” said County Council Chair Overture Walker. “Council is proud to assist PurePower in its expansion effort, as they have proven to be a valuable asset and employer for the County.”

A wholly owned subsidiary of Stanadyne, PurePower operates a 200,000-square-foot manufacturing and engineering facility at the Northpoint Industrial Park with more than 300 employees.

“PurePower Technologies and the Economic Development Office of Richland County have been strong partners since the startup of the Blythewood facility in 1999,” said Dr. John Pinson, president and managing director of Stanadyne. “Our strong partnership with Richland County continues to foster a climate of economic development in which we can grow our business.”
