Qatar Airways places record-breaking Boeing order
May 15, 2025In a landmark aviation deal, Qatar Airways announced the purchase of up to 210 Boeing widebody aircraft, including 130 787 Dreamliners and 80 777X jets. Valued at $96 billion, this is Boeing’s largest-ever order for both its 787 and widebody aircraft families. The Dreamliners will be assembled at Boeing’s North Charleston facility, delivering a significant economic boost to South Carolina.

Qatar Airways and Boeing announced the carrier will purchase up to 210 widebody jets.
U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) celebrated the announcement, stating, “This is great news for South Carolina and Boeing. The operative phrase is ‘largest ever.’ Today’s announcement marks Boeing’s largest ever widebody order, its largest 787 order and Qatar Airways’ largest order ever.”
Boeing’s 777X program, which includes the 777-8 and 777-9 variants, incorporates advanced technologies from the 787 Dreamliner, such as composite wings with folding wingtips and new GE9X engines. The 777-9 is designed to seat up to 426 passengers and has a range of over 7,285 nautical miles.
This historic order underscores Qatar Airways’ commitment to expanding its fleet with state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient aircraft, while also reinforcing Boeing’s position in the competitive widebody aircraft market.
