Rachel DeBacker, AIA LEED AP elected to 2019 AIA Greater Columbia Board

Studio 2LR announced that Rachel DeBacker has been elected to serve as a 2019 board member for the Greater Columbia Section of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

“We are excited to have Rachel represent Studio 2LR on the AIA Greater Columbia Board. She shares a passion for community outreach and is excited to play an active role in the development of programs and resources that shape the local architectural community,” says Tripp Riley, Vice President at Studio 2LR.

Rachel is currently serving in a leadership role on the board with a focus on developing local programs that advance the goals of the national AIA “Equity in Architecture” commission.

AIA Greater Columbia Section is a subsidiary of the AIA South Carolina chapter and the national American Institute of Architects. AIA Greater Columbia has a membership of approximately 220 design professionals and strives to help carry out the goals of the parent organizations: being the voice of the architectural profession and the resource for its members in the service to society.

At the 2015 AIA National Convention, delegates adopted Resolution 15-1, “Equity in Architecture, ” which was envisioned as a call to action for both women and men to realize the goal of equitable practice in order to retain talent, advance the architecture profession, and communicate the value of design to society.
