May 11, 2021

Randall Jameson, who teaches residential and commercial electrical wiring classes for Tri-County Technical College’s Corporate and Community Education (CCE) Division, received the College’s 2021 Adjunct Faculty Presidential Award.

This award is given annually at the fall faculty/staff convocation to the adjunct faculty member who is recognized for excellence in teaching, who has consistently high student evaluations and who supports the philosophy and goals of the College.

Since 2002 Jameson, a SC master electrician, has taught classes for the CCE Division, including Residential Electrical Wiring, Commercial Electrical Wiring, and Journeyman/Master Electrician Exam Prep.

Randy loves to teach and to help students build their confidence and skills so that they are successful,” said Sandra Strickland, program director for the Business Training Center of CCE, wrote in her nomination letter. “He integrates what he has learned in the workplace and students find that extremely beneficial.”

Previously Jameson worked as a maintenance electrician for Stauffer Chemical, BASF and Walgreens Distribution Center.

“Randy embraces a hands-on learning environment,” said Strickland. “He develops customized, creative lesson plans with real-world projects and activities for his students   He partners the theory with hand-on activities that help enhance and retain student learning. He has gone above and beyond the call of duty by personally building dozens of electrical trainers for his classroom lab activities that cover the typical residential and commercial job duties,” she said.

He develops and maintains a real connection with his students, she said. “He not only instructs but he also serves as a mentor and encourager. The connection Randy builds with his students is instrumental in his high student satisfaction and retention rates,” she said.

“When he retired several years ago, she said he remained dedicated to teaching classes for CCE.  He could have easily handed in his resignation to CCE. But, the reward of seeing his students succeed was more powerful and keeps him coming back to teach each new class.”

Jameson and his wife, Connie, live in Anderson. They have eight adult children and 34 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
