Randy Randall Sworn in as Mayor of Clinton

March 13, 2023

Clinton’s newest Mayor was sworn in at an installation ceremony on Monday night, March 13. Randy Randall is now serving as the 30th mayor of Clinton.

Randall isn’t new to the role having served as mayor of Clinton from 2002 to 2013 but he is looking forward to working with the current members of City Council.

“I’m looking forward to working with members of the City Council and our City Manager to move Clinton forward, said Randy Randall, Clinton’s newly elected Mayor. “I’m already working hard to get up to speed, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

When asked about his top priorities as mayor, Randall indicated that his first priority is to listen and learn about everything that is going on from Tom Brooks, City Manager and members of city council.

If you know Mayor Randall, you know he’s a positive person. He enjoys working with and leading a team of people all committed to the same end goal. “I think that my strengths are relationship building internally and externally with a goal of getting as many people as possible pulling together for the same purpose,” said Randall. “Nothing will happen in our city just because of one person. It takes a group effort from city council, the city manager, and all of our city staff to get the best outcomes for our citizens.”

In lockstep with his leadership style, Randall’s long-term goal is to lead every day in a manner that fosters a great quality of life for all citizens through planning, economic development, and growth that happens in planned and measured process.

When asked how he will work with city council to create a productive and transparent city government, Randall said that the job of the city council is to set policy that benefits everyone. To do that, they must not only listen to, but also communicate with all constituencies what the plans are and how they are using the responsibility that they have given to city leaders.

Randall is a firm believer in the council manager form of government and believes it provides for clear rules for the chain of command. The mayor and council are the face of the community.

“If we create a positive and supportive atmosphere and style of government, it makes industry want to locate here, businesses thrive here, and people want to move here,” said Randall. “My job is to try to help create that environment.”

Also sworn in on Monday were council members Anita Williams (Ward 2), Gary Kuykendall (Ward 4), and Megan Walsh (Ward 6).
