RBHS teacher accepted into Supreme Court Summer Institute

LEXINGTON, SC – River Bluff High Law and Global Policy Lead Teacher Meg Huggins will travel to Washington, D.C. this summer to attend the Supreme Court Summer Institute conducted by Street Law Inc. and the Supreme Court Historical Society.

After a highly competitive application process, Huggins was one of 60 teachers selected to participate in the Institute.

The Institute offers teachers the opportunity to study recent Supreme Court Decisions and learn innovative teaching methods for conveying law and global curriculum to students. Well-known Supreme Court lawyers, reporters, scholars and educators will be among the speakers and instructors for the Institute. Teachers will visit the Supreme Court of the United States to attend decisions and a reception.

Huggins is the lead teacher for the Law and Global Policy Development Center at River Bluff High.

The curriculum for the Center for Law and Global Policy Development is built around case studies involving social, environmental and economic issues that impact citizens on local, national and international levels. Students in the Center learn how to apply the technological skills needed to navigate the professional needs of policy creation and implementation, and legal research.
