RCPEP to host inaugural Golden Apple Awards Luncheon celebrating excellence in Richland County education
May 6, 2025Richland County Public Education Partners (RCPEP) announced the inaugural Golden Apple Awards Luncheon, an event dedicated to honoring educators, community advocates, and leaders who have made an extraordinary impact on public education in South Carolina.
Presented by Truist Bank, the event will take place on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM at The Palmetto Club in downtown Columbia. Individual tickets are $50 and available for purchase online at rcpep.org/golden-apple-award-luncheon.
Since 2018, RCPEP has worked to strengthen public education through targeted literacy programs, teacher support initiatives, and meaningful family engagement. The Golden Apple Awards Luncheon shines a spotlight on those who are helping build stronger schools and brighter futures.
2025 Golden Apple Honorees:
- Business and Education Partnership Award: Colonial Life
- Government Leader in Education Award: The Honorable Inez Tenenbaum, Former State Superintendent of Education and Chair of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission
- Community Impact Award: Georgia Mjartin, CEO, Central Carolina Community Foundation
- Pioneer in Education Award: Dr. Bobby Donaldson, Associate Professor, University of South Carolina
- Excellence in Teaching Award: Dr. Tracey Swilley, Principal, Fairfield Central High School
- Future Leader in Education Award: Kritian Sanchez, Columbia College, Call Me MISTER Program
