Rebuild Upstate and SENIOR Solutions to partner in Anderson and Oconee

April 26, 2016

A new partnership between Rebuild Upstate and SENIOR Solutions will help create more opportunities to get emergency and long-term home repairs for the elderly in Anderson and Oconee counties.

While Rebuild Upstate has been serving homes in these counties for nearly 10 years, this partnership will coordinate the services between the two organizations and allow seniors to be better served by offering many more resources available to improve their safety, health and quality of life, said Chris Manley, executive director of Rebuild Upstate.

“This is important because of the hundreds of phone calls we receive each year in Anderson and Oconee counties requesting assistance with home repairs for low-income individuals and families,” Manley said.

Many of these calls are from seniors who have an income less than 50 percent of the area median income and need assistance to live safely within their home, he said. The work between SENIOR Solutions and Rebuild Upstate is being funded by the South Carolina Appalachian Council of Governments and South Carolina Agency on Aging.

This partnership launched in late February, Manley said. Rebuild Upstate has complete 10 projects so far with three on-going and seven starting later this month.

SENIOR Solutions has been improving the lives of upstate seniors since 1968. Their mission is to promote the mental, physical, and spiritual well-being of the senior community.
