Rebuild Upstate receives National Award for the fourth time in seven years

November 17, 2020

ReFrame Association, the national association for volunteer-based home repair organizations in the United States, recently honored Rebuild Upstate with its fourth Best Practices Award in the past seven years.

The 2020 Best Practices in Stewardship of Volunteers Award was presented to Rebuild Upstate for their leadership in forming new procedures to safely continue home repairs for low-income homeowners amidst a global pandemic. Rebuild Upstate’s practices have been replicated across the country – keeping thousands of volunteers safe while still repairing substandard, unsafe homes. In addition, these procedures have kept hundreds of homeowners and their families safe as work was completed on their home.

Rebuild Upstate has been engaged with ReFrame since its first gathering ten years ago. The ReFrame Association was created to provide resources and community to nonprofits providing home repair and home improvements. When the association was formally founded in 2013, Rebuild Upstate was one of nine charter members.

“This award is a huge honor and achievement for Rebuild Upstate, especially in a year as challenging as this one,” said Chris Manley, Rebuild Upstate’s President/CEO and Founder. “The Rebuild Upstate team has done an incredible job this year finding ways to continue fulfilling our mission despite an unprecedented global health emergency. This award belongs to our entire team.”
