November 22, 2016

The American Red Cross of Lowcountry SC announced that Mark McCain and David Dunlap have joined its Board of Directors.

“I am honored to have David and Mark bringing both their expertise in their respective fields and their passion for the Red Cross to our Board of Directors, said Louise Welch Williams, CEO for the Palmetto SC region of the Red Cross.

McCain’s professional engineering career spans more than 30 years with experience with local, state, and federal agencies. He has extensive experience in emergency management during which he worked as a partner alongside the Red Cross and is now looking forward to joining them.

“When working with professionals from the American Red Cross during exercises, leadership training programs, and incident responses, they always demonstrated the highest level of professionalism and commitment to doing what is morally and ethically right for the persons we serve and I am pleased to be able to continue to work with them,” said McCain.

Dunlap is the president and Chief Executive Officer of Roper St. Francis Healthcare. He has spent his career as a hospital executive, serving as President and CEO of Memorial Medical Center, as well as President for HCA in Oklahoma. For decades he has been an advocate and supporter of the Red Cross.

Dunlap said, “I know that I can count on the Red Cross to be there when needed, and for as long as needed, at all times, taking care of people regardless of their ability to pay.”

Last year in the Lowcountry, the Red Cross provided food, shelter, comfort, and hope to nearly 1,200 people who suffered home fires. They trained more than 9,000 people in lifesaving skills and briefed nearly 17,000 members of the military and their families. Volunteers across South Carolina hosted more than 2,000 blood drives and gave over 105,000 blood and platelet donations.
