Red Cross to receive donation from Hudson Group

GREENVILLE, SC – March 16, 2012 – The American Red Cross Western Carolinas Region will receive a $5000 donation today from the Hudson Group, parent corporation for Hudson News. A check presentation will take place at the Greenville Spartanburg International Airport at 2 p.m. in the Airport Commission building.

“Hudson Group believes in supporting the communities where we do business and where our employees live,” said Lee Barrett, General Manager at GSP. “The American Red Cross Western Carolina’s Region’s area of support, including Upstate South Carolina and Western North Carolina, is also home to many of the customers we serve in our Hudson News store in GSP.  We are proud to support the Red Cross, which provides extraordinary service to our employees and customers.”           

Ann Wright, CEO of the Red Cross Western Carolinas Region said that she is grateful for the Hudson Groups generous donation, which will go “toward disaster operations such as the 700 plus home fires that occur in the Upstate each year, the recent Abbeville train derailment, or severe weather outbreaks that may occur suddenly.  ­Additionally, the funds will go toward Services to the Armed Forces such as helping local military members and their families connect during emergencies and training programs to help them cope with the stresses of deployment.”Hudsy, the Hudson News mascot, will be there to help with check presentation.
