Red Devils Finish as 2025 AAA State Runner-Up in Boys Tennis
May 12, 2025The Clinton High School boys tennis team capped off an exceptional season with a hard-fought appearance in the AAA State Championship on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Though the Red Devils fell to powerhouse Oceanside Collegiate Academy, a charter school known for developing elite athletes, the match was the final chapter of an inspiring season that upheld Clinton’s proud tennis tradition.
The final score was 6-0 in favor of the Oceanside Landsharks, but the match was far from a disappointment for Clinton fans. The Red Devils faced one of the toughest programs in the state—Oceanside Collegiate, a sports-focused charter school that draws top tennis talent from across South Carolina—and competed with heart and determination.
Clinton’s journey to the state finals showcased their commitment, teamwork, and resilience throughout the season. The 2025 squad continued a long-standing tradition of excellence in Clinton tennis, adding another runner-up title to an already decorated program history filled with region championships and deep playoff runs.
While the final match didn’t go their way, the Red Devils’ performance this season once again proved why Clinton remains a force in high school tennis. Senior Nathan Meade wrapped up his final season with pride, and underclassmen gained valuable experience that will serve the program well in the future.
Congratulations to Coach Clovis Simmons and the Clinton High School boys tennis team—the 2025 AAA State Runner-Up, a team that represented their school and community with class and determination.
