More than 700 individuals attended the 2016 Reedy Reels Film Festival at the Peace Center’s Gunner Theatre — nearly tripling the attendance of last year’s event.

Reedy Reels Film Festival hosted its second annual event Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at the Peace Center’s Gunter Theatre. Awards were distributed in each category as well as an Audience Choice award.

The winning films include:

  • Best Feature: Family Possessions, directed by Tommy Faircloth

  • Best Student: The Boyd Estate, directed by Christopher Matthews

Individuals traveled to the event from across the nation – including filmmakers from Los Angeles and attendees from North Dakota, Massachusetts, Oregon and California – from a total of 19 different states. In honor of the film festival, Mayor Knox White issued a proclamation declaring Nov 4, 2016, “Reedy Reels Festival Day” in the City of Greenville.

“By every measure, this year’s festival surpassed last year’s. We had higher quality films and a better location. We had more people attend including more filmmakers, some of whom traveled across the country to be at Reedy Reels,” said Reedy Reels Director of Operations Mike Giordano. “We greatly appreciate the support of Greenville Mayor Knox White acknowledging Reedy Reels with the proclamation of ‘Reedy Reels Film Festival Day.'”
