Reedy Reels film schedule announced at kickoff party

The Reedy Reels Film Festival kickoff party included the unveiling of the two-day event’s schedule of film categories.

The festival will be held Friday, November 4 and Saturday, November 5 at the Peace Center’s Gunter Theatre and will include designated film categories for each day. On Friday, documentaries will begin at 2:45 p.m., foreign films at 5:45 p.m. and local films at 8:45 p.m. On Saturday, student films will begin at 11:45 a.m., animation films at 2:45 p.m., shorts at 5:45 p.m. and feature films at 8:45 p.m.

The Reedy Reels Film Festival kickoff party, a free admission event, took place on Thursday, September 15 at Yard House on Woodruff Road. In addition to the film schedule, the evening included giveaways, appetizers and a raffle for tickets.

Chris White, Greenville filmmaker and winner of last year’s award for best feature, spoke about his award and the screening of his latest project “Unbecoming”, a new five-part Southern Gothic anthology. The project will be shown during the local films category on Friday night.

“The film categories really showcase the talent and artistic styling of the Upstate’s independent filmmakers,” said Mike Giordano, the festival’s vice president of operations. “We are looking forward shining more light on our local film community.”
