Registration open for in-person 152nd SCDA Annual Convention

May 22, 2021

In addition to their essential daily work, South Carolina dentists continue to make a difference in their communities in many ways, including nonprofit service and volunteering with free medical clinics. That is why the South Carolina Dental Association (SCDA) is celebrating these stories of impact during the Healing Hands, Caring Hearts SCDA Annual Session, which will be in-person in Charleston, S.C.

The SCDA will continue to follow all Department of Health and Environmental Control COVID-19 guidelines throughout the convention.

Registration is now open for the meeting, that is September 16 – 18 at the Charleston Marriot on 170 Lockwood Blvd. The 152nd annual session will focus on ways dentists serve their communities and spotlight organizations our dentists donate their time, money or talents.

“Each registered dentist and speaker will have an opportunity to acknowledge the organizations they support,” SCDA Board President Dr. Julia Mikell. “This year, we have learned much more about being together, despite standing 6-feet away. Our dentists make a positive impact on their communities, and this is what we want to celebrate. Our dentists are proof that not one person can do it alone.”

In addition, there is a diverse line-up of speakers and topics, including Dr. Josh Austin, who will present on “Materials and Tech that Expedite Excellence” and “The Mental Dental Connection.” Dr. Lou Graham will provide three separate sessions on “Advanced Concepts in Restorative Direct and Indirect Dentistry.” Dr. Lauren Linder Weir will have an update on opioids in South Carolina and Dr. Martha Ann Keels will focus on dental erosion with “Hot Burps, Sour Candies and Dental Hot Mess, Managing Erosion.”

There are also S.C. licensure and renewal sessions, including CPR, opioids, and OSHA/Infection Control. For more information about the annual conference and how dentists can continue learning and growing their practice, visit https://www.scdaannualsession.com/index.php.
