REI Grant Supports Volunteer Projects on the GHS Swamp Rabbit Trail

October 6, 2014

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greater Greenville Parks Foundation received a $10,000 grant from REI Greenville to support Park Hero volunteer projects on the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail operated by Greenville County Rec.  This is the third grant from REI to the Greater Greenville Parks Foundation in support of Greenville County Rec in as many years.

In 2012 the Parks Foundation and Greenville County Rec created the Park Heroes volunteer program that has provided 111,224 hours of stewardship to local parks and trails since the program’s inception.  REI’s 2013 grant is supporting the development of a handicap accessible trail and campsite at Greenville County Rec’s Pleasant Ridge Camp & Retreat Center.    The 2014 REI grant will provide materials for volunteer projects designed to enhance the experience of people using the Greenville Health System Swamp Rabbit Trail.
