Representative Stewart Jones Announces Campaign for Re-election

January 10, 2022

On Saturday, January 8th, State Representative Stewart Jones announced his campaign for re-election of House District 14 at the Laurens County Museum in Laurens.

The event was well attended by supporters including Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds, Pastor Tony Foster, State Representatives John McCravy, Doug Gilliam, Josiah Magnuson, and Mike Burns.

Several supporters addressed the crowd providing specific examples of constituent advocacy provided by Jones. Jim Peterson shared with the group the efforts made by Jones to get a road paved very quickly saying that “we had been trying for years to get this done and within 24 hours of speaking with Rep. Jones the road was paved.” The common theme in all is that Representative Jones is extremely responsive and gets things done in our community.

First elected to serve to the General Assembly in 2019, Rep. Jones and his colleagues spoke about the historic achievements over the past session and recent years including the South Carolina Heartbeat Bill, greater transparency in the state budget, advancing and defending Second Amendment rights, defending election integrity in SC, and fighting for South Carolina against overreach from an out-of-control federal government.

Jones has long been known for his positions on personal freedoms by defending the Bill of Rights at the local level. Prior to serving District 14 in Columbia, Jones served on Laurens County Council January 2015-April 2019. During his time on county council, he was responsible for leading the charge auditing local government, successfully saving taxpayers over $77,000 a year in a single audit.

Announcing his campaign for re-election Jones said “it is an honor to represent the great people of House District 14! It is up to us to preserve liberty. Let’s keep winning!”

Jones, who led an effort to pull South Carolina from the National School Boards Association in November 2021 said that “school choice is coming to South Carolina!” He also discussed plans to reform the tax code by “reducing and repealing the state income tax.”
