Residents Can Give Input on Growth, Development Rules for County – May 14

Richland County will hold a virtual public meeting Thursday, May 14 to collect input as it rewrites its land development code (LDC).
The LDC regulates land use, growth and development in the County. The code covers County standards for zoning districts and dwelling units allowed per acre, along with building location, permitted uses, signage, landscaping and other stipulations.
While the County’s LDC has seen minor revisions since its adoption in 2005, the current process marks the first comprehensive update. Residents and stakeholders can review a draft of the rewritten code and give feedback during the virtual meeting.
The meeting will stream live 6 p.m.-8 p.m. on the County’s YouTube page at https://www.youtube.com/user/richlandonline/videos. County staff will give an update on the project, followed by an overview of the latest version of draft regulations, emphasizing new concepts and changes from current rules.
During the discussion, attendees can email questions to County staff and consultants from Clarion Associates, who are helping with the rewrite, at [email protected]. Questions and comments can also be emailed in advance.
The County plans to adopt the new LDC in fall 2020.
