Restoration Efforts Underway at Table Rock State Park, A Favorite Destination for Laurens County Residents

Table Rock State Park, a popular outdoor escape for many Laurens County residents, is set to benefit from new restoration efforts aimed at preserving its natural beauty and enhancing the visitor experience.

The Duke Energy Foundation recently announced a $75,000 grant to support trail cleanup and restoration work at the park. This funding comes at a crucial time, as heavy use and recent weather events have caused erosion and wear on several of the park’s most well-traveled paths. The grant will help fund trail stabilization and erosion control measures to ensure safe access for hikers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Located just over an hour from Laurens County, Table Rock State Park has long been a go-to destination for hiking, camping, fishing, and taking in the stunning views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its challenging summit trail, peaceful lake, and historic stone lodge built by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) continue to attract visitors from across the Upstate and beyond.

In addition to the recent trail restoration grant, Table Rock was also one of the sites included in a broader $150,000 Duke Energy Foundation initiative to install water bottle refilling stations at 25 South Carolina state parks. These stations, installed earlier this year, are part of a sustainability effort to reduce single-use plastic waste and promote environmental stewardship across the state park system.

Restoration work at Table Rock is scheduled to begin this year, with updates expected to be provided by park officials as projects move forward.
