Retired FDNY lieutenant to share 9/11 survival story at Fountain Inn community remembrance event

As the nation approaches the 25th anniversary of September 11, the Fountain Inn community is invited to gather for an evening of reflection, faith, and gratitude featuring a firsthand account from a Ground Zero first responder.
The special event, titled “Faith Through the Fire: A 9/11 Firefighter’s Story of Survival,” is scheduled for Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Infinity Church, located at 412 Fairview Street Extension in Fountain Inn.
Hosted by Carol Roper, creator and host of the Building Strong Homes podcast, the evening will feature a live interview with Niels Jorgensen, a 22-year FDNY veteran and retired lieutenant who responded directly to the World Trade Center towers on September 11, 2001. Jorgensen will share his personal story of survival, the courage and sacrifice demonstrated by the brotherhood of first responders that morning, and the enduring strength that carried him forward.
Following the keynote conversation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a dedicated audience Q&A session.
In addition to commemorating the upcoming milestone anniversary and honoring those lost, the gathering will formally recognize and celebrate local firefighters, police officers, and emergency personnel who serve Fountain Inn and surrounding Golden Strip communities today.
