ReWa’s Collections System Department Recognized with Excellence Award

GREENVILLE, SC – April 9, 2013 –  Renewable Water Resources’ (ReWa) Collections System Department was recognized with the Blue Ridge Foothills District (BRFD) Excellence in Collection System Operations Award.

The Excellence in Collection System Operations Award is presented annually to the Collection System that best demonstrates significant, lasting, and measurable excellence in the operation and maintenance of a collection system, or the prevention of the degradation of the water quality in a region, basis, or body of water through improvements or management practices.

Since the reorganization of the Collections Department in 1998 and changing its focus from reactive to proactive, ReWa’s Collections System Department has made great strides over the years in safety, maintenance, inspection, inflow and infiltration, remediation, and training. The organization understands that protecting public health and the environment begins with a great collection system and that is takes a team approach to meeting or exceeding the highest standards.

The ReWa Collections System Department is comprised of 35 fulltime and 5 seasonal staff that are dedicated to excellence in safely operation a world- class wastewater conveyance system with zero violations. The department, along with sister sub-districts, serve over 117,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers on a daily basis.

ReWa’s goal is to promote a cleaner environment, and to protect the public health and water quality of the Upstate waterways, while providing and developing the necessary sewer infrastructure for the growing economy. ReWa serves more than 400,000 industrial, commercial and residential customers in Greenville County and parts of Anderson, Spartanburg, Pickens and Laurens Counties.
