Rhodes receives Leadership in Law Award

February 12, 2020

Janet Rhodes, an experienced employment lawyer and partner at Burnette Shutt & McDaniel, is receiving a Leadership in Law Award from South Carolina Lawyers Weekly.

She’ll be among 28 attorneys honored at a March 13 banquet in Charleston. In its 12th year, the Leadership in Law award recognizes attorneys who have achieved professional success while making significant contributions to society.

A seasoned employment law attorney, Rhodes represents clients in a range of employment law cases in South Carolina and federal courts. This includes discrimination, equal pay, wrongful termination, wage disputes, contract disputes, and non-compete agreements.

She shares her legal knowledge with others through teaching continuing legal education seminars. She also updated a chapter in the recent update of “Labor and Employment Law for South Carolina Lawyers,” a publication of the South Carolina Bar. She serves on the Council for SC Bar’s Employment and Labor Law Section as the newsletter coordinator.

Additionally, Rhodes addresses community groups and professional organizations about employment law topics.

She’s deeply involved in the community, currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Trustus Theatre. She was a member of the planning committee for the Midlands Arts Conservatory, a public magnet school focusing on performing and visual arts.
