Ribbon cutting set for new 24,000‑square‑foot Dog Run in Pawleys Island
May 7, 2026Georgetown County will hold a ribbon‑cutting ceremony next week for its new off‑leash dog run at Stables Park, a long‑requested amenity that is already drawing visitors ahead of its official debut.
The 24,000‑square‑foot fenced space includes separate areas for small and large dogs, along with tables and benches for their owners. County officials said the project fills a need residents have been asking about for years.
“It is something people have been asking for for a long time now and we’re very excited to finally be able to fill that need,” said Jackie Broach, Public Information Officer for Georgetown County.
The grand opening is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, May 15, at 2400 Petigru Drive. Although the celebration is next week, the park is unofficially open and already in use.
Everyone is welcome to attend, including families, friends and their dogs.
