April 3, 2018
S.C. Comptroller Richard Eckstrom has been honored for leadership in the field of governmental accounting and financial reporting.
.
The National Association of State Comptrollers (NASC) recently presented Eckstrom with its President’s Award, which recognizes one of its member annually for outstanding contributions to the group’s efforts to improve governmental accounting and reporting practices and to address fiscal management and oversight issues.
 .
The group noted that Eckstrom is an innovator in governmental accounting and often volunteers to mentor new state Comptrollers. “He is always willing to volunteer or share information to help his peers,” the NASC said in a news release.
 .
As S.C. Comptroller, Eckstrom, a CPA, has worked to continually improve the way the state’s financial information is published.  He has also taken a stand for higher standards for those in government accounting positions.

He was presented the award March 22 by NASC President and Wyoming State Auditor Cynthia Cloud.
