Richardson Plowden Attorneys Named “Super Lawyers”

COLUMBIA, SC – May 4, 2009 – Richardson Plowden & Robinson, P.A., is pleased to announce that three of its attorneys, Francis M. Mack, Eugene H. Matthews, and Franklin J. Smith, Jr. have been selected to the 2009 South Carolina Super Lawyers.

Francis M. Mack is the managing shareholder of Richardson Plowden and focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation in the areas of construction, contract disputes, fidelity and surety law, and insurance defense matters. Mack is a certified arbitrator and listed in Best Lawyers in America for business litigation. He is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorney’s Association, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. He earned his Master of Science degree in engineering from the University of South Carolina (USC) and his juris doctor in 1982 from USC School of Law.

Eugene H. Matthews is a shareholder in the firm and focuses his practice on employment law, administrative and regulatory law, civil rights litigation, and appellate litigation. Certified by the South Carolina Supreme Court as a specialist in employment and labor law, Matthews has extensive experience litigating claims concerning a variety of employment and other business issues. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar, the North Carolina Bar, and the South Carolina Bar’s House of Delegates. Matthews earned his Bachelor of Arts from Furman University, his Master of Arts degree from Yale University and his juris doctor from the University of Virginia.

Franklin J. Smith, Jr. is a shareholder in the firm. He focuses his practice on construction law, including construction litigation, contract drafting and negotiation, claims resolution and avoidance, design professional malpractice, fidelity and surety law, coverage issues, and insurance defense. Smith is recognized in Best Lawyers in America for construction litigation. He is a member of the American Bar Association, South Carolina Bar, Richland County Bar Association, South Carolina Defense Trial Attorney’s Association, and American Society of Civil Engineers. A certified mediator, Smith earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Clemson University and his juris doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
