Richland County, Forest Acres team up for special recycling event

COLUMBIA, SC – Richland County Solid Waste & Recycling and the City of Forest Acres are hosting a joint recycling and paper shredding event for residents.
The free recycling and shred event takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Crayton Middle School, 5000 Clemson Ave., Columbia. The following materials will be accepted:
- Paper for shredding
- Computers and computer accessories (keyboards, monitors, printers, scanners); TVs and stereos; household electronics, such as VCRs, DVD players, power tools, radios and fax machines; small appliances, such as microwave ovens; any other small household items with power cords, such as telephones, pagers and answering machines
- Scrap metal, stoves, washers, dryers, bicycles, metal door frames, metal chairs and shelves, lawn mowers (must be free of gas and oil), refrigerators and air conditioners
- Tires from cars, light trucks and smaller vehicles, bicycles and wheel barrows.
The event is for residents only. No commercial materials will be accepted.
