Richland County Month in Review: January

The following are highlights from Richland County Government in January:

• Richland County announced its funding cycle is open for grant applications for Accommodation Tax Grants, Hospitality Tax County Promotions Grants and Discretionary Grants as well as Historic Preservation Grants and Community Conservation Grants. Information about these grant opportunities, including the deadlines to submit applications, can be found here.

• Richland County held a series of six Community Input and Recovery Project meetings for flood victims to share their experiences with the October flooding. Data and information compiled from the meetings held at locations throughout the County will be used to form a report that will guide future flood preparation strategies.

• The Richland County Business Service Center kicked off the new year by celebrating its 10th anniversary. Established in 2006, the Business Service Center provides many resources and services to Richland County’s business community. For more information, click here.

• Richland County Council re-elected Torrey Rush as Chair and Greg Pearce as Vice Chair during its first meeting of 2016. Rush, who represents District 7, was first elected to Council in 2012. Pearce, who represents District 6, was first elected to Council in 1999.

• Richland County Council hosted a special drop-in for the members of the community who volunteer their time to serve of the County’s various commissions, boards and committees.

• Richland County Council convened Jan. 28-29 for its annual business meeting, during which Councilmembers review and discuss information and receive updates from administrative staff and department directors on a range of topics.
