Richland County Recreation Commission holds press event to announce updates and court dedications for the Richland County Tennis Center

The Richland County Recreation Commission (RCRC) will hold a press conference to provide a project update and special dedications for the Richland County Tennis Center on December 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM. The event will be located at 7500 Parklane Road in Columbia.

Guest Speakers will include Pastor Blakely N. Scott, RCRC Commission Chairwoman Donzetta Lindsay, Dr. Jerry Odom, The Honorable Paul Livingston, The Honorable Darrell Jackson and Ms. Lakita Watson.

A few of the updates for the sustainability of the facility include:

  • New fencing and gates
  • ADA accessibility
  • Resurfaced tennis courts
  • LED lighting updates
  • Security Cameras
  • Outdoor Restrooms

RCRC Executive Director, Lakita Watson, stated, “Our Commission, our team and our partners are thrilled for the public to see these facility upgrades. While these were done with the safety of our citizens and the sustainability of our County Tennis Center in mind, we will also now be able to host additional senior leagues, host youth league tournaments, community fundraisers, provide a space for the local Special Olympics Tennis Team as well as Wheelchair and Adaptive Tennis Leagues!”

In addition to the upgrades and the special dedications on December 14th, the media and public will also be provided with information about the Bench Legacy Initiative, Court Dedications, and the new Hitting Wall.
