The Richland County Council has selected the Richland County Recreation Foundation (RCRF) to receive a Discretionary grant in the amount of $6,500 for fiscal year 2016 for the Wheelchair Basketball Developmental League. This award will be used to fund Richland County Recreation Commission’s wheelchair basketball team, the” RCRC Lightning.” The “RCRC Lightning” is a professional basketball traveling league for disabled veterans, teenagers and adults ages 15-35. It is the only team in Columbia, South Carolina. The multi-year grant will be disbursed over three years in which we will receive $6,500 per year beginning July 2015. The funds will be used to purchase equipment, registration fees and travel cost for our “RCRC Lightning” basketball team.

“We appreciate the Richland County Council for granting us this opportunity to continue with our commitment to enrich lives and connect communities in Richland County,” said Lisa W. Lewis, Executive Director of Richland County Recreation Foundation. “The Wheelchair Basketball Developmental League is vital to the disabled community of veterans, teenagers and adults.”
