Richland Library celebrates graduation of 14 students from Career Online High School

November 9, 2020

While 2020 has been a challenging year across the globe, it has also given hope to 14 local students, ranging in age from early 20s to early 70s, who earned their high school diplomas.

On Sunday, November 1, Richland Library held a socially-distanced Career Online High School graduation outside our Southeast location (7421 Garners Ferry Road). Our staff was able to celebrate and recognize each individual’s hard work through staggered invitations.

We want to congratulate the following individuals:

  • Crystal Boggs
  • Sheila Bonaparte
  • Nyasia Brewer
  • Shannan Green
  • Cedric Guide
  • Shanita Gunn
  • Tianna Hall
  • Julis Hampton
  • Ryan Helms
  • Amanda Hood
  • Joyce Potter
  • Deleonshi Scott
  • Ebonie Richburg-Sheppard
  • Diane White

Each graduate also received a career certificate in one of 10 high-growth, high-demand career fields, such as Child Care and Education, Food and Hospitality, and Office Management.

“During a time of uncertainty, our graduates persevered,” said Richland Library Executive Director Melanie Huggins. “They didn’t let a state shutdown stop them. They didn’t let a global pandemic stop them. I’m so proud of their accomplishments, and I can’t wait to hear about their future achievements. This is just the beginning.”

The library has 46 students who are currently enrolled in Career Online High School. In addition, there are around 100 interested candidates who have completed the pre-requisite course and more than 1,100 people who have taken the self-assessment.
