Richland Library explores racial consciousness in upcoming author discussion

May 7, 2021

Richland Library will explore racial consciousness through the work of an award-winning author and poet. Join us for Let’s Talk Race: A Conversation with Cathy Park Hong from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Sunday May 16. Please register at richlandlibrary.com to attend this one-time virtual discussion, which is free and open to the public. A recording will not be available following this program.

Hong is the author of Minor Feelings: An Asian American Reckoning, which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for autobiography and was longlisted for the Andrew Carnegie Medal for Excellence. It’s an intimate, emotional and raw reflection of her life and race in America. Hong traces her relationship to the English language, shame and depression, poetry, and female friendship.

A recipient of the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize, a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship, Hong is also the author of three poetry collections, including Dance Dance Revolution.

Let’s Talk Race: A Conversation with Cathy Park Hong is made possible thanks to funding from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation and SC Humanities.
