Richland Library highlights local political milestones during Women’s History Month

To celebrate Women’s History Month, Richland Library is recognizing achievements that have shifted our civic landscape and examining their monumental impact on local government. Join us for Women in Politics: Richland County Milestones from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 25. Barbara Rackes, a Southeastern Institute for Women in Politics founder and board member, is moderating the discussion. Panelists have the opportunity to share their personal experiences, leadership skills and lessons learned with our community. Hear from:

Candy Waites – first woman elected to serve on Richland County Council

Jesica Mackey – youngest Black woman elected to serve on Richland County Council

Bernice Scott – first Black woman elected to serve as Richland County Council Chair

Susan Brill – former Richland County councilmember and longtime Richland School District Two Board of Trustees member

Yvonne McBride – current Richland County councilmember whose family has held political office and represented District 3 for decades
