Richland Library hosts three free summer break cafés

Free Summer Break Cafés open Monday-Friday, through August 12.

Richland Library will host free summer break cafés at three locations from June 6 to August 12. A kick-off will event sponsored by the South Carolina Department of Education will be held on June 15 at 11:00 a.m.

From June 6-August 12 children and teens under the age of 18 can receive a free meal from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday-Friday at the following library locations:

The meals are on-site, first come, first served and are open to anyone aged 18 and under while supplies last. Our Sponsor is Francis Burns United Methodist Church, and the program is managed in South Carolina by the SC Department of Education (SCDE).

The Summer Break Café program is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and provides free meals to children 18 and under from June to August. Summer Break Cafés are held at SCDE-approved sites such as parks, libraries, churches, and schools.

Richland Library will host the South Carolina Department of Education for a kick-off event at its North Main location on Wednesday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. Richland Library customers can learn more about Summer Break Cafés and enjoy a special storytime, read by State Superintendent Molly Spearman.
