Richland Library Main to Reopen Second Level with New Look

The transformation at Richland Library Main continues, andstarting Monday, September 12, our staff are unveiling the recently renovated and reconfigured Second Level, featuring the new Studio Services Department. We encourage the community to come and check out some of the dedicated spaces, which include:
- Studios: Draw, paint and sculpt in guided studio art instruction and open-lab sessions.
- Meeting Spaces: Learn, create and share in these flexible spaces that support community collaboration, presentations, group discussion, workshop activities and making.
- Maker Space: Tinker, experiment and create with tools in both guided and open-lab sessions.
- Production Stage: Produce, record and film with the assistance of instructors or in unguided sessions.
- Post-Production Lab: Create and edit media projects – including audio, photo, video, mobile applications and video games – using our professional software.
- Theater: Stage or screen performances from small impromptu gatherings to larger planned events.
- Writer’s Rooms: Collaborate with your book club or writing group, or hold a workshop.
Customers also are going to find general-use computers and the majority of Richland Library Main’s fiction section on the Second Level.
The upgrades are part of a $15 million project planned for the Main location, made possible by Richland County residents with the passage of a $59 million bond referendum back in 2013.
