Richland Library names two local creatives as next artists-in-residence

July 26, 2021

Music, theatre and visual storytelling are taking center stage at Richland Library over the next five months. We’re excited to announce Molly Ledford and Rob Padley of Puppet Time Machine Theatre as our new artists-in-residence.

Together, Ledford and Padley aim to highlight the power of hope and resiliency within our local arts community. During their residency, which runs through December 2021, they plan to:

  • work with our staff to offer a variety of programs, such as visual art and musical theatre workshops, which are free and open to the public
  • host virtual and in-person office hours to interact with local residents and answer their questions
  • curate content on the library’s website to highlight and share their expertise
  • serve as a liaison between the library and area artists

In addition, they’re utilizing library studio space and resources to create and produce a sequel to their short film, Rat Gets a Job – offering customers an intimate glimpse into the film production process.

Sharing a love for Jim Henson and children’s programming, Ledford (a multi-talented artist, Grammy nominee and co-founder of Lunch Money Music) and Padley (a visual artist/illustrator and voice actor) create and produce whimsical variety shows for the young at heart through their work with Puppet Time Machine Theatre. Initially developed in September 2016, the concept behind the library’s artist-in-residence is to connect the community with local, working artists and to provide creative and educational opportunities to local residents in a way that supports cultural and artistic exchange.
