Richland Library Partners to keep local school library open over summer

June 20, 2016
School may be out for the summer, but Richland Library is in session at Lower Richland High School. As part of a pilot program to expand its reach in the Lower Richland community, Richland Library is excited to announce a partnership with the Richland One School District to keep the school library accessible through August 4.

Doors will be open MondayThursday from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m., providing children, teens and adults a connection to:

  • Resources – “Popular Picks,” CDs and the latest-released DVDs
  • Programs – Storytime, Graphic Novels and Coloring Cafe
  • Services – Computer Access, Job Assistance and Local History
In addition, local residents will also be able to browse and check out materials from the school library’s collection.

Richland Library is one of a few public library systems across the country – in places like Virginia, Idaho and Oregon – that are teaming with school libraries to keep their doors open over the summer and to promote learning.
