Three Students Named Finalists for Gates Millennium Scholarship

Richland One extends its congratulations to three Class of 2016 graduates who were named as finalists for the prestigious Gates Millennium Scholarship (GMS): John Cooper (A.C. Flora High School), Zachary Jackson (Richland One Middle College) and Ivi Mitchell (W.J. Keenan High School). They were selected as finalists among the 53,000 applicants nationwide.

John plans to attend Yale University to study music and economics. Ivi aspires to become an environmental specialist and eventually the Secretary of Agriculture. Zachary will be attending North Carolina A&T State University, where he will pursue a degree in bio medical engineering.

The goal of the GMS program is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity for outstanding minority students with significant financial need to pursue a college career by paying all tuition and college fees.
