Richland One employees receive three awards from S.C. Association of School Librarians

Richland One employees won three top awards from the South Carolina Association of School Librarians (SCASL), which held its annual conference March 2-4 in Myrtle Beach.

Pamela Williams, librarian at Columbia High School, was named the 2016-2017 School Librarian of the Year. This award honors a full-time librarian who promotes exemplary library media programs, as well as active participation and service to the SCASL and other related professional organizations.

Ida Thompson, Richland One’s director of instructional technology services, was named Administrator of the Year for providing outstanding support to library media programs.

Susan Altman, the library assistant at Forest Heights Elementary School, received the Nancy Jane Day Scholarship, which goes to an SCASL member to reimburse the cost of a college course taken toward completing a graduate degree in library science. The scholarship honors Nancy Jane Day who was the Supervisor of Library Services for the South Carolina Department of Education for 24 years.
