Richland Penny Issues Notice of Temporary Closure to Section of Lincoln Street

June 7, 2016

Beginning Wednesday, June 8 through Thursday, July 21, Lincoln Street, from College Street to Devine Street, will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic. This two block closure is due to contractors performing work in the intersection of Lincoln Street  and Greene Street as part of the ongoing Innovista (Greene Street) Phase I project. Pedestrian traffic is allowed, however it may be limited at times dependent on the work activities being performed.

“While this will be an extended lane closure, it’s necessary and allows for the contractor to make the final roadway improvements within the intersection of Lincoln Street and Green Street,” said Rob Perry, Richland County transportation director.

Limited access will remain for ticket purchases at the Colonial Life Arena. Those wishing to make ticket purchases will be able to travel south on Lincoln Street and make a U-turn between College Street and Greene Street.

The closure allows for the contractor to maintain safe travel for motorist around the construction area and for workers to safely continue work on the Foundation Square portion of the project. Motorists and pedestrians are urged to use caution and adhere to all construction signage within the project area.
