Richland School District Two Announces Updated Schedule For The 2015–2016 General Fund Budget Process

COLUMBIA, SC – After three months of reviewing budget priorities for the district and the Board of Trustees and receiving input from employees, parents and community members, Richland Two district administrators will present an overview of the proposed 2015–2016 General Fund budget to the Richland Two Board of Trustees during a work session on April 7, 2015, 4:30 p.m. The work session is open to the public and is being held at the Richland Two Conference Center in Columbia Place Mall, 7201 Two Notch Road, Columbia, 29223.

Before taking a final vote on the budget, the Richland Two Board of Trustees will hold two public hearings to receive additional input from the public regarding the 2015–2016 General Fund budget. The first public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, at 5 p.m.,prior to the regularly scheduled board meeting at Polo Road Elementary School located at 1250 Polo Road, Columbia, 29223.

The school board will hold the second public hearing on April 28, at 5 p.m., prior to the regularly scheduled board meeting at Blythewood Middle School. During public session of that meeting, which starts at 7 p.m., the board will finalize and vote on the 2015–2016 General Fund Budget that will be submitted to Richland County Council. Blythewood Middle School is located at 2351 Longtown Road East, Blythewood, 29016.

Richland Two’s current General Fund operating budget (FY 2014–2015) is $234,914,783. District administrators project revenues and expenditures for 2015–2016 will total approximately $246.1 million, an estimated 4.77 percent increase over the 2014–2015 budget.
