Richland Two Board conducts superintendent’s evaluation

July 8, 2020

The Richland School District Two Board of Trustees conducted the annual superintendent’s performance evaluation for Dr. Baron Davis during the Board Retreat on June 20, 2020, and at a regularly scheduled Board Meeting on June 30, 2020.

This annual evaluation is required by board policy and by the district’s employment agreement with the superintendent. During executive session of the two meetings, board members assessed Dr. Davis’ performance in the areas of Policy and Governance; Planning and Assessment; Instructional Leadership; Organizational Management; Communications and Community Relations; and Professionalism.

In public session of the June 30 meeting, the board voted to award Dr. Davis an overall distinguished evaluation for the 2019-2020 school year and, as a result of Dr. Davis’ overall distinguished evaluation, to extend Dr. Davis’ contract with the district for one year through June 30, 2024.

In making the motion, Board Member Amelia McKie noted that Dr. Davis’ evaluation reflected the highest level of performance.

In a letter to Dr. Davis, Board Chair James Manning commended Dr. Davis for his leadership skills, effective communication and commitment to the district. Mr. Manning said, “Regardless of the issues, you have proven you are a capable leader. This fact has been demonstrated by your rising to the occasion to guide the District through the COVID-19 pandemic.”

An educator for more than 20 years, Dr. Davis has served as superintendent since July 2017 after serving a transition year as the superintendent-elect. Click here to read Dr. Davis’ complete bio on the district’s website.
