Richland Two hosts small and minority vendor showcase

October 20, 2016

Richland School District Two is seeking ways to increase the number of small and minority companies doing business with the district. In January, Richland Two will host its first vendor showcase. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the District Office @R2i2, located at 763 Fashion Drive in the Village at Sandhill.

Vendors will have an opportunity to network and make face-to-face connections with school and district officials to discuss the products and services they offer. While the event is free, all participants must complete the Vendor Showcase Registration form on the district’s website: www.richland2.org.

“This event is a good faith effort to build stronger relationships with qualified small and minority businesses in the Richland Two community and general Midlands area,” said Richland Two Procurement Director Delores Coleman. “Our goal is to increase diversity and inclusion of suppliers who would like to do business with the district.”

These goals are part of the Richland Two Minority Business Enterprise Plan adopted by the school board in 2001. The plan aims to provide opportunities for businesses owned and operated by minorities to not only participate in the procurement process but also to be awarded contracts.

Businesses with 100 or less employees, owned by women and other minorities are encouraged to attend the vendor showcase. Participants can bring samples, brochures and other information about their companies. Light refreshments will be served.
