COLUMBIA, SC – Richland Two School Social Worker Brenda Creighton received the School Social Worker of the Year Award from the South Carolina Association of School Social Workers (SCASSW).

“The desire of children to learn and make the world a better place inspires me. When I was growing up, I was always told that if you get an education, you can do anything. I want to advocate for as many children as possible to get the best education regardless of their environment or circumstances,” Creighton said.

Creighton serves students at Joseph Keels Elementary School and the Anna Boyd School. She is a master’s level social worker with 27 years of experience, and she has been with the district for nearly 13 years.

“Brenda is one of the most humble people I know,” said District Lead Social Worker Abby Cobb. “She is more than deserving of this honor.”

Creighton is married, and her adult children are both graduates of Blythewood High School. The family recently welcomed its first grandchild.
